Overview

The Farmer's Daughter Country Store, nestled along US Hwy 231 in Ozark, Alabama, offers a down-to-earth dining experience that blends Southern comfort with genuine hospitality. This small yet inviting spot serves up a straightforward menu featuring BBQ sandwiches, chili dogs, Hunt Brothers pizza, and cheeseburgers, making it a versatile stop for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Though the exterior might look modest, the interior surprises with ample seating and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff, often praised for their warmth and attentiveness, create a neighborhood feel that keeps locals and travelers coming back. The scent of grilling meats draws you in, setting the stage for a satisfying meal.

Highlighting The Farmer's Daughter is its expertly smoked pulled pork. Tender and bursting with balanced sauce—not too sweet, not too thick—it's a standout for BBQ lovers. Complementing this are sides like their renowned coleslaw, praised as some of the best around, and hearty potato dishes generously loaded with toppings. For those seeking a sweeter finish, the homemade cakes, especially the pound cake and vanilla with chocolate frosting, have earned rave reviews for their moist texture and rich flavors.

While the menu leans on classic Southern comfort fare—with BBQ, pizza, and a mix of homestyle dishes—it's the simplicity and quality that shine through. Some guests note the occasional limited availability of certain items, a testament to the freshness and popularity of what’s offered. The Farmer’s Daughter isn’t flashy, but what it lacks in decor, it more than makes up for in genuine taste and charm.

This country store-restaurant hybrid best suits those who appreciate honest, no-frills cooking with a slice of local character. Perfect for road-trippers seeking a hearty bite or residents wanting a friendly atmosphere and dependable flavors. With its convenient location on a busy highway, it’s a worthy pit stop to satisfy hunger with soulful Southern fare and a touch of home-cooked warmth.

It’s an interesting place next time we dine in. This time it was only 2 pizzas so we will see. They are very friendly. It’s a must to go there if you are nearby and hungry :)

We stopped by to feed our baby and immediately smelled something delicious coming from the grill, so we decided to check it out. All the girls inside were so friendly and welcoming. It had just turned 11 a.m., so we weren’t quite hungry yet, but after looking through all the yummy options on the menu, we decided to try a slice of cake each. We got the pound cake and the vanilla cake with chocolate frosting, and honestly, it was some of the best cake I’ve ever had! 10/10 we will definitely be stopping by again on our next road trip!

Tasty & tender! Delicious pulled pork. Sauce was just right, not too sweet, not too thick. Best Cole slaw I’ve ever eaten. Restaurant looks small from the outside but lots of seating inside. Several hard working ladies kept their customers well fed and hydrated. Don’t hesitate to stop in or carry out.

You could drive past this place and never know what a great meal you had missed. Nothing fancy on the ourside or inside but WOW!!! Great food!!! The pork is delicious and the Potato with EVERYTHING on it is a feast. The Good News is that everything on the menu is worth trying. The Bad News is that they do run our of food items at times. Pay attentuon while driving or you will miss it!!!

I wouldn't call it a country store, far as i could tell had bbq, pizza and ice for sale. Food was mixed chicken and rice dish needed seasoning and hot sauce. Beans and potato salad were great. Beans actually saved the chicken dish. Wish i would have tried the bbq and will sometime. It was also a Tuesday so not sure if a busier day provides more options.

We visited for the first time this week as it's about a 30 minute trip for us to go to Ozark - so worth the drive! I had the chicken and my husband had the pulled pork. We both had the AMAZING baked beans and chicken in rice. The food was so delicious and the service was super friendly. The place is small and not fancy, but it looks clean and servicable. There is plenty of parking and easy access right off of Hwy 231. We will be going again, no doubt. We may even get a jar of the honey the owner sells from his hives. We highly recommend you give them a try.

The pulled pork and the beans were really good. Didn't really care for their style of potato salad.

If you are traveling on highway 231 between Troy and Ozark It would benefit you to take the time to stop in and see these girls. It is a small place very inconspicuous sitting beside the road, but let me tell you now these are the best chili dogs I have ever had. They have a non-tomato-based chili and if I go by I have to stop. The BBQ is great also. They have a live beehive inside with a see-through glass case in the corner of the restaurant which is pretty cool to look at. There's not a whole lot of seating, but you can get it to go.
